Complementary Therapies
Complementary Therapies are available to all our Hospice
patients. Families and their carers may also be referred to
the service. Therapies practised at the Hospice are chosen
because they can help to promote relaxation and an overall
sense of well-being. They can provide a positive focus away
from the symptoms associated with a life-limiting diagnosis.
The Complementary Therapy Service provides a range of natural
and holistic therapies and has a team of qualified practitioners
who are able to deliver these at the Hospice. In some circumstances
therapies may also be provided in the community.
The Complementary Therapy team are available to provide
the following therapies: Relaxation, Therapeutic Massage,
Reiki, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Traditional Acupuncture
and Adapted Head Massage. Treatments such as hand, nail and
hair care, foot spas, beauty facials, wax hand dips and chiropody
are also available.

“Reiki: extremely relaxing on a deepest
level. It steadies me down if I am feeling anxious or emotional
and energises me if I feel very weak or fatigued.” Complementary

genuine interest and care I’m given. I’m sometimes amazed
at the difference it makes to my emotional and physical needs”
