Day hospice

Cotswold Care Hospice offers a day therapy where people attend once a week for a three-month period, which can be extended. Day therapy is offered on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The aim is to improve people's quality of life by providing access to specialist support. The multi-professional team includes therapists, nurses, physiotherapist, health care assistants and a range of skilled volunteers.

The day provides an opportunity to enjoy a new interest, gain companionship and social contact while giving those at home a break.

Day therapy offers help and advice to adults with a life-limiting or advanced progressive condition. People can access the service at any stage, depending on their assessment of need.

Attendance is once per week and care is planned for a three-month period and reassessed on a regular basis.

Up to 15 people per day attend, enjoying a range of activites, a home-cooked lunch and companionship.

Following time in day therapy people often feel more confident about managing their illness and facing their future.

Complementary therapies

Therapies such as massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and reiki, support a person's whole well-being.

 

Counselling

Counselling, from experienced professionals, to help patients, carers and families cope through a difficult time.

 

Art for Health

Creative therapy activities, such as painting and drawing, can help people rediscover their creative side and find a way to express what they are feeling.

 

 

Spiritual support

Spiritual care and support help patients explore their spiritual and religious needs.

 

Physiotherapy

Palliative care is about quality of life and includes rehabilitation. Cotswold Care Hospice has a physiotherapist who works as part of multi-disciplinary team.

 

How you can access day therapy

Anyone can make a referral to day therapy. It is possible for patients to refer themselves or for a friend or a relative to refer on their behalf.
